About North Carolina Phone Directory

Phone numbers for North Carolina are scattered across a dozen different places. The state employee directory holds one slice. Each of the hundred counties keeps another. Cities and towns run their own staff lists, and so do school districts, universities, hospitals, and every utility company. On top of that sit the area code references kept by NANPA and the FCC. Tracking down the right number usually means bouncing between websites. We built this site so you can land on the right directory, area code reference, or hotline without hunting through five other sites first.

Why We Built This Site

North Carolina publishes phone information through a lot of separate offices, and none of them link to each other. NC.gov carries the state employee directory and a long hotline list. Individual departments run their own employee searches on top of that. Counties handle social services, deeds, tax, elections, and public health, each on their own website. Cities and towns publish staff directories in three or four different formats. The education department runs a statewide school database. Universities run campus lookups. Public safety splits across 911, 988, 211, and a 311 line that only exists in a few places. Add the ten area codes and the numbering references behind them, and the picture gets crowded fast. We pull the lookup tools, contact methods, and reference data for each of those into one place.
